Default Coming Soon: Europe 09 CD/DVD Release "Across the Pond"

Quote from 44 Pictures (the studio that filmed the concert)

Quote:
We are excited about the release of the Dave Matthews Band concert film "Across the Pond", part of the "Europe 09" package that RCA is releasing in December. Its a 10 camera high def shoot from the famed Brixton Academy in London on 6/26/09 and shows the band very much like the old classic days--club size, intimate, up close and very live. I am very proud of the final result and hope you guys get to see it

Dave Matthews Band Europe 2009 includes Dave Matthews Band: Live from Lucca and Across the Pond, a box set containing 3 CDs from the July 5, 2009 show in Lucca, Italy and a DVD from the June 26, 2009 show at O2 Academy Brixton in London, England (with bonus tracks from the June 25th O2 Academy show)

The discs are housed in an exclusive C. Taylor Crothers photo book chronicling the entire Dave Matthews Band 2009 tour. The Europe 2009 release is the ultimate Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King companion and comes in a sleeve with room to hold a Big Whiskey Super Deluxe edition.

Live From Lucca - 3 CD set

Dave Matthews Band played one of the longest shows in their history on July 5, 2009 in a beautiful plaza in the heart of Lucca, Italy. In the Tuscan setting surrounded by city walls dating back to the Renaissance era, the band was inspired to deliver a performance lasting almost three hours. A welcome mix of classics on the setlist served to complement the new Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King songs.

Across the Pond – DVD

“Dave Matthews Band: Across the Pond" is a concert film shot in the famed Brixton Academy in South London. Directed by Sam Erickson (The Road to Big Whiskey Documentary/44 Pictures) and filmed with 10 HD cameras in the vintage awe-inspiring theatre, this concert program takes you up close and personal with DMB in a setting reminiscent of the band’s earlier years of club and theater touring. Mixed in pristine stereo and 5.1 surround from the original multi track recordings and presented via Dolby Digital stereo audio this film is the definitive visual record of the 2009 world tour behind Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.

Does anyone know when the pre-order ends?

Why didn't DMB offer this set when I bought half the store the other week?

I am not sure who has gotten their hands on this yet, but there have been some questions to why the Sexy MF, Heartbreaker interpolations and "I'll be there" were cut from the CD/DVD

This statement is directly from Sam Erickson whom directed the DVD.

Quote:
Thanks to everybody who enjoyed the DVD regardless of the issues with licensing that prevented the Led Zepellin and Michael Jackson tunes to be used. As the director of the DVD I am very pleased with the way it came out visually and am sorry that these other issues are clouding people's perceptions of the release. I look forward to other constructive reviews and opinions.
Quote:
I am not sure its true that other bands with less money released Zepellin covers. Led Zeppelin is the single toughest band to get licensing rights from. I am not in a position to comment on what exactly was attempted in re negotiations for those songs but I know that it just wasn't possible. Frustration is totally understood though and I don't take those kinds of criticisms personally. I just hope that folks can enjoy the creative work that went into the shooting and editing.
It is a shame that it had to be cut, but it is understandable.

Managed to find a copy at Best Buy without having to order it. I was pretty pumped. I really liked So Much to Say > Anyone Seen the Bridge? > LIOG. I hadn't seen the setlist in advance so that was a nice surprise. Worth the money spent and then some.
